The SRV2 Siberian is a semi-automatic utility rifle from Black Creek’s SRV2 series. This rifle was designed to be an ergonomic, modular and reliable multi-use rifle for the ranch, range or backcountry. The action uses a forward captured dual spring system with a two piece short-stroke piston system. The Siberian can be used for extended field carry, so emphasis was put into reducing weight and ensuring the stock could be folded, making it substantially shorter than buffer-tube based semi-auto rifles. The result is a sleek, compact firearm that feels good both in the shoulder and when slung
I picked this rifle up Monday and have been reasonably happy with it so far. The plusses include AR like controls, Magazine campatability (eventually) light weight and soft shooting. The gun seems to have the potential for reasonable accuracy I have only shot bulk throught it so far and it likes PMC 855 the best. It was more then sufficient shooting off a bag through a red dot at 50 and 100 yards.
Had 2 failure to extracts shooting norc 556, perhaps a bit of a over gas situation as it didnt happen on PMC xtac, 855 or reloads.
The negatives the gas block was secured with blue loctite as the factory states. One set screw was overly abundant and wouldnt release without heat. Blue loctite on small fasteners (under 1/4") is considered permanent by loctite\permatex, the factory manual should mention using heat. I can see many of these set screws getting stripped and require drilling.
The three small screws for the safety and oversize mag release backed out with in 100 shots. These should be threadlocked with low strength (purple) or staked.
The bolt catch/release worked great with GI mags, didnt work at all with 11 gen 2 pmags (including the one in the box) and about 75% gen threes failed to release. I removed the bolt catch and stoned/filed until it cleared the feed lips on the pmags and the overall height by approx 1/32". I believe the catch is either out of spec or the lower is riding it high when fully depressed. It now works on every PMAG I own flawlessly.
So far I really like it and may buy a second. I am capable of dealing with small issues my self. Many people would not be able to. I hope BCL sorts out the small issues because there is a lot of potential here. Time to keep feeding it brass to see how the gas system holds up!!
